Beverly was born the 10th of March 1927 to Roger and Lucille Conant in Berkeley, CA. She graduated from Berkeley High in 1944 and from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1948. She also earned a Master’s in Education at Cal State Fullerton. By the time of her passing at 96 on June 8th, 2023, she had lived a rich and full life.

Bev always said she was blessed to have had two great loves in her life. Her first was Peter Falconer, whom she spotted while embarking on an indoctrination sail on San Francisco Bay for prospective counselors to Berkeley Tuolumne Camp. She in her pedal pushers, he as the ship's sail master; their eyes met. They married three years later on June 17, 1950, and lived a remarkable life together for 30 years. They raised 3 children, traveled, and had great friends. Peter passed away in 1981.

In 1989, Bill Simmons entered her world as a Secret Santa gift. They hit it off and traveled the world together. They married in Rome, and for 15 years enjoyed a second marriage (for both) and blended families. Bill passed away in 2005.

Bev was an innovative elementary school teacher in Fullerton’s Rolling Hills and Acacia schools for 27 years. She was an active member at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Fullerton for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, Wednesday Book Club, Fullerton Republican Women Federated, and a long-time, involved and active member of CSUF’s Continuing Learning Experience (CLE) and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) programs.

Bev will be remembered for her marvelous sense of humor, her ability to easily make friends, and her love of learning. She loved music, art, movies, theater, bridge, and crosswords. She cherished her beloved pets and enjoyed being out of doors communing with nature, sitting in the sunshine, and taking drives in the country. She had a gift for taking life as it came, and welcomed each day anchored in her Christian faith. As a lifelong educator, perhaps her greatest lesson for each of us was what she taught us about living each day with gratitude, grace, purpose, positivity, hope, and joy.

Beverly is survived by her children Guy Falconer, Rod Falconer, and Lisa Falconer-Otey; grandsons Joshua, Kyle, Ian, and Colin Falconer, and great-granddaughters Piper, Penelope, and Morgan Falconer. She will also be fondly remembered by Bill Simmons’ family, and countless friends.

Life celebration services will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on July 8th at 10:00 am with a reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church, an animal rescue organization of your choice, or Friends of the Fullerton Public Library. And please consider buying and sharing a good book with a friend. Bev would love that.
